Adding Root Systems to Model Fir Trees

Adding Root Systems to Model Fir Trees

I'm still going at it using caulk! This time it's for root systems and sculpting model fir tree bases to add width and texture. Natural fibers are used as a scaffold.  Then I use a lighter caulk than for placing foliage on big trees, mixed with paint. I'll show you how I use artist's sculpting tools to move the material onto the fibers and add deep grooves in the bark detail. I am using my own Coastman's trunks which also have grooves for bark, but this can also be performed onto dowels, e.g. for making logs. Check it out!
